On the Jewish New Year, known as Rosh HaShanah, we say in our prayers the following "U'Teshuvah, U'Tefila U'Tzedakah maavirin et roa ha-gezera," which translates as "...Repentance, Prayer and Charity should remove the harsh decree (on us)..."
